North East England weather forecast

Headline:

A lot of fine weather over the next few days.

Today:

After a chilly and, perhaps in places, frosty start, Sunday promises to be a dry and settled day with a lot of sunshine. Colder than of late, although with light winds it should feel comfortable enough out and about. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Tonight:

High pressure will dominate the weather overnight, keeping things dry and fairly clear. A gentle breeze will develop, although a widespread frost and pockets of mist or fog are likely. Minimum temperature -1 °C.

Monday:

Overnight frost and fog will gradually lift on Monday morning to leave another fine day. There will be plenty of sunshine at first, although cloud will increase for the afternoon. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Tuesday and Wednesday look mostly dry with some sunny or clear spells, although fog and frost will return overnight. Light rain possible early Thursday morning, ahead of a sunnier afternoon.

UK long range weather forecast

On Thursday, cloud and rain are expected to move southeast, with clearer conditions ahead of this in the far south at first. A mixture of clear and sunny spells, with occasional wintry showers are expected in the far north, with a chance of rain later. For the rest of the period, settled conditions are expected to continue in many places, particularly in the south. As a result, dry conditions and sunny spells are likely, with a risk of overnight fog patches in the southeast. Changeable weather conditions, with cloud and outbreaks of rain and drizzle are expected in north, with strong winds and a risk of gales possible in north and northwest. Temperatures overall will be rather mild in the north and northwest, but closer to average in the south.

Updated:

During the period, generally settled weather conditions are expected across the UK. Frontal systems bringing rain and strong winds are expected in the northwest, perhaps spreading further into the southeast at times, although much of the south and southeast may stay largely dry. Temperatures overall will be above normal, with a small chance of colder conditions.
