Most cloudy but dry. However some patchy light rain will develop, chiefly across Hebrides and western coastal fringes. Best morning sunshine across Inverness, Easter Ross, Sutherland and Caithness, becoming confined to Caithness from mid-afternoon. Winds mostly light. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Tonight:

A dull, cloudy and mild night, but some clear spells across Caithness early evening. Most staying dry but western parts will see some patchy light rain or drizzle. Minimum temperature 2 °C.

Tuesday:

A cloudy and mainly dry day for most. Milder but windy. Some patchy rain in the west, and perhaps some limited brightness around Inverness. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Wednesday mild, generally dry with some brighter spells. Rainband crossing from northwest Thursday. Friday uncertain for any detail but turning cooler with some rain.

UK long range weather forecast

Confidence is low for this weekend, but it looks sunny for many, once patchy rain in the south clears. There will be some blustery showers in the northwest though, with the risk of gales in the far north. Through the latter stages of March, we will see a good deal of dry weather across central and southeastern parts of the UK, with bright or sunny spells. It will be more changeable across the northwest, with rain and strong winds from time to time. Temperatures are most likely to be around the average for the time of year, although some warmer periods are likely in the southeast when the sun shines. However, occasionally in the northwest it may be rather cold.

For the start of April, changeable conditions are likely, with near normal temperatures across the UK. Thereafter, the forecast looks more uncertain, but it seems most likely that we will see changeable conditions across the UK once again. Wet and windy weather may be interspersed with drier and brighter spells, with the most unsettled conditions still probable in the north. By the middle of the month, we may see a return of more widely settled weather. Temperatures could potentially start off a little warmer than average, but they may fall nearer to the seasonal average for a time in early April.
