Mainly dry overnight, with variable cloud cover and some clear spells, these more likely towards Kent. Rain and drizzle will reach Hampshire and Oxfordshire later in the night. Southerly winds will be strong on coasts, but becoming lighter inland. Minimum temperature 5 °C.


Initially dry, and bright in southeastern counties, but cloud and locally heavy rain in west, will gradually spread to all parts during the day. Winds will become lighter. Chilly overnight. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Largely dry with broken cloud and limited sunshine, perhaps a little drizzle on Thursday and Friday. Chilly in northern counties. Milder, brighter weather will return on Saturday.

The confidence for the outlook into December is low, but the general trend suggests typical early winter weather with periods of persistent rain and showery interludes. Overall the best of the driest and brightest weather in the south and east. Frost and fog patches are likely during any settled spells, and any wintry precipitation is likely in cooler and more unsettled spells over high ground of the north and northwest. There is a risk of gales, with the strongest winds being seen to the north and northwest.
