Today:

A windy and showery day. Showers light and scattered early in the day, before turning quite frequent and occasionally heavy for the afternoon. Best of shelter to the south of Lough Neagh. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Tonight:

Showers focused across the north and far west, but tending to die out elsewhere, with clear spells leading to a cold start in the rural southeast come dawn. Minimum temperature 4 °C.

Wednesday:

Another cool, windy, showery day, but winds a little lighter than Tuesday. Showers quite frequent, in north and far west, but elsewhere largely confined between late morning and the afternoon. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Brighter spells and isolated showers for Thursday, but temperatures still seasonally disappointing. Dry, bright start to Friday, then rain spreading from west later that lingers for much of Saturday.

Initially fine for most locations during this period the early part of this period, with a weak front bringing cloud and patchy rain across central parts of UK returning northwards through Sunday into Monday, and perhaps bringing rainfall to the northwest, which could be heavy for a time across the hills of Northwest Scotland. This pattern is then likely to persist, with many areas likely remaining mostly fine, and the greatest chance of cloud and rain being across the far west and more especially northwest. Temperatures during this period are likely to be on the warmer side of average, but with settled conditions warm days could be offset by a few chilly nights. Towards the end of this period there is a signal that the more settled conditions may cease.

The recent spell of more blocked weather patterns may ease at the beginning of this period, with a gradual revert back to a more mobile west or southwesterly type most likely, with low pressure often centred to the northwest of the UK and high pressure over the nearby continent. This would bring spells of wet and sometimes windy conditions, most frequently in the northwest, with longer drier periods towards the south and east. Temperatures will typically be near normal, perhaps a little below at times in the northwest especially, with the chance of some occasional warmer conditions in the south and east.
