Northern Ireland weather forecast

Headline:

Band of rain edging eastwards during the day.

Today:

Rather cloudy with a mostly dry morning in the east. Patchy rain over Fermanagh will extend slowly eastwards later this morning, reaching east coast early this afternoon. Drier, brighter weather will follow from the west this evening. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Tonight:

Any patchy rain quickly clearing from east coast, then it will be dry overnight with clear or sunny periods. Light southwest winds. Minimum temperature 9 °C.

Saturday:

Most places will have a dry day with some early sunshine then becoming cloudy. Misty, damp conditions reaching the west in the afternoon, extending eastwards during the evening. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

The mostly dry, settled conditions looks set to continue with plenty of warm sunshine and light southerly winds.

Updated:

UK long range weather forecast

Predominantly fine and settled at first for much of the country and much warmer than we have seen in recent weeks. However, some thicker cloud could bring some outbreaks of mostly light to northwestern areas. There is some uncertainty in how long this warm, settled weather will persist over the UK and there is a chance that conditions could transition back closer to average towards the end of next week. This transition brings with it the risk of some showers or longer periods of rain and potentially some thunderstorms, particularly in the south, from the end of next week. However, the remainder of the period is more likely to be settled with temperatures above average.

Updated:

Signals for this period are fairly weak and thus, it's difficult to say if any one type of weather pattern will dominate. As such, typical conditions for the UK are most probable with a mixture of weather types. All areas can expected to see some spells of drier, sunnier weather, but there will also be showers or longer spells of rain at times. Currently the only signals, weak as they are, hint that rain and showers will tend to be more biased towards the north and west, with any more prolonged drier interludes favouring the south. Temperatures are slightly more likely than normal to be above average, than below.
