Some sunshine in the southeast for a time this morning before cloud and patchy rain spreads from the northwest. Rain dying out by afternoon and some brighter interludes developing. Mild with light southwest winds. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Tonight:

It will be a dry and rather cloudy night. Freshening southwesterly winds, becoming strong along the North Coast by morning. Minimum temperature 4 °C.

Wednesday:

Dry much of day. Bright spells in the morning then cloudy in the afternoon. Band of rain will cross all parts during evening. Windy with strong southwesterly winds. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Mainly dry and feeling colder on Thursday with sunny spells and fresh westerly winds. Quite windy on Friday and Saturday, also mainly dry and rather cloudy.

UK long range weather forecast

The coming weekend is expected to be mostly dry and largely cloudy, albeit with some rain at times in the far north and northwest. For the rest of the period, settled conditions overall are expected for most, bringing dry weather with sunny spells. There is a risk of overnight fog in many parts of the country, particularly in the south. Changeable weather conditions are more likely in the far north, with showers and longer spells of rain, as well as periods of stronger winds in the northwest. Temperatures overall will be mild in the north, particularly in the northwest, but near average elsewhere, with a low chance of colder conditions and frost in the south.

During the period, generally settled weather conditions are expected across the UK. Frontal systems bringing rain and strong winds are expected in the northwest, perhaps spreading further into the southeast at times, although much of the south and southeast may stay largely dry. Temperatures overall will be above normal, with a small but increasing chance of colder conditions as we move through the period.
