UK long range weather forecast

Changeable at first with a moist west to southwesterly wind and a mixture of showers, longer spells of rain, and drier interludes. This pattern could also be accompanied by periods of strong winds across western and northern areas, with often calmer weather further south and east. There is a small chance of more widespread settled conditions developing. As we then head through the first half of October, this most likely changeable pattern may gradually give way to more prolonged settled spells, with rain and strong winds more likely to become increasingly confined to the far northwest. Temperatures are likely to be warmer than average overall, but in more settled spells given the time of year there is scope for chilly nights and areas of early morning mist and fog.

Updated:

A continuation of the gradually increasing chance of more prolonged settled spells until around mid-month, particularly in the the SE, at which point there are signs of a change of type. A north/south split looks increasingly probable with it being drier than average in the north and wetter than average in the south. Above average temperatures are more likely than below overall, though in any settled spells some chilly nights and morning fog patches will continue to occur.
