East Midlands weather forecast

Sunny spells for most, with isolated heavy showers possible inland.

A warm and humid day of sunny spells and light winds. Isolated showers will also develop inland later, some perhaps on the heavy side with a risk of hail and thunder, although it will stay fine for most. Maximum temperature 27 °C.

Remaining showers fading for a time to leave a mild night with clear spells and some fog patches developing inland. A few further showers perhaps possible towards dawn. Minimum temperature 12 °C.

Brightest for many during the morning, as cloud and spells of rain punctuated by heavier, perhaps thundery showers spread eastwards later. Generally less warm. Maximum temperature 25 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

More changeable and breezy through this period, with a mixture of sunshine and showers, some heavy and thundery. Temperatures lower than recently.

UK long range weather forecast

It will remain changeable through much of this period, with most parts of the UK seeing a mixture of dry, sunny periods together with showers or some longer spells of rain at times. Over the coming weekend sunny spells and heavy showers are likely for many areas. Into early next week these showers will probably become confined to eastern and northern parts of the UK, with the driest conditions in the west and southwest. From the middle of next week onward, we will likely see a continuation of mixed conditions bringing sunny spells but also some heavy showers, perhaps with more prolonged periods of rain at times. Temperatures are expected to be around or just below average.

Changeable conditions look likely to continue through the start of this period, with sunny spells mixed in with some showers at times or longer spells of rain, these more prevalent in the northwest. Although confidence in the detail is low, there are tentative signals suggesting that high pressure may become more dominant during the middle of August, bringing more settled, drier and warmer conditions for many. There would still be a risk of showers or thunderstorms at times. Temperatures are most likely to be above average.
