Dry and largely settled, though becoming rather cold overnight with some rural grass frost. Patchy cloud is expected to linger along the western coast, but plenty of clear skies elsewhere with light and variable winds. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

Friday:

After a chilly start with frost patches in rural parts, brighter and warmer to end the week with lighter winds. Plenty of sunny spells, though turning cloudier into the afternoon. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

A warmer but mainly cloudy weekend. Patchy rain and drizzle, mostly affecting the north on Saturday before becoming heavier and more widespread on Sunday and Monday. Breezy.

Cloud and outbreaks of rain are expected to affect some northern areas for a time on Tuesday, with dry and sunny conditions further south. Through the rest of next week high pressure will become more dominant, with dry and often sunny conditions spreading across the majority of the UK. Winds could be fairly strong at times in the south, with some overnight mist and fog in parts of the north. Temperatures during the day will likely be above average in many areas, although some cold nights are possible in places. A similar pattern will probably persist through the following week, although by late September there is a chance that more unsettled conditions may begin to develop.

Typical Autumn weather will probably affect the UK with a mix of weather types during late September and early October. Periods of wet, unsettled weather will likely be broken up by some spells of more settled, drier weather. Overall, the wettest conditions will probably be in the west with the east drier. Temperatures are most likely to be close to or slightly above average.
