Today:

Largely dry with good bright and sunny spells, but always cloudier across western districts where some scattered showers develop. West to southwest winds occasionally fresh. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Tonight:

Vast majority dry but the odd light showers may appear in the far west. However cloud gradually building from the west, while winds back southerly towards dawn. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Monday:

Rather cloudy but fair morning for Monday. Cloud gradually thickening to bring some patchy rain for the afternoon, while southerly winds strengthen. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Quite unsettled with showers that may merging to longer periods of rain at times, with west always more exposed. Feeling autumnal with winds occasionally strong, perhaps gale force.

A north/south split in weather conditions is likely over the latter part of next week, with rain and showers affecting the north, while the south holds on to drier weather. It may be windy at times, especially across the north and northwest, where gales are possible. Temperatures close to normal in the north and feeling rather mild in the south. Unsettled weather continues for many into the following week, with showers in northern areas likely to spread southwards. High pressure may develop across the UK throughout the rest of the period, with occasional frontal systems bringing some periods of rain. However, towards the end of the period, deep lower pressure is expected. Temperatures generally returning to above normal, however, cooler nights could make way for potential mist and fog.

This lower pressure regime is likely to bring periods of rain across the UK, but some drier spells and potential mist and fog can be expected too, most likely at the beginning of the period.
