Sunny intervals and a few showers, these mainly across Moray and western Aberdeenshire. Brisk southwesterly winds but feeling quite mild especially along the Moray coast. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Tonight:

A dry evening with clear spells, the windy conditions continuing. More cloud developing later in the night and quite a mild night again. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Tuesday:

A dry morning but quite cloudy and strong winds continuing. Showers likely during the afternoon and the risk of getting caught in a heavy one. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Windy conditions continuing later in the week. Dry and bright on Wednesday and Thursday but some heavy overnight rain likely. Sunny on Friday but a few blustery showers.

A changeable pattern is expected through the end of September and into early October. While an initial spell of settled weather is possible, with the best of the conditions in the south-east, there is a chance of rainfall arriving into the south-west and spreading across southern areas of the UK, with more frequent rainfall also likely across the north-west. Any prolonged settled conditions are likely to deteriorate later into the period, general conditions becoming more changeable with a mixture of rain, showers and some strong winds, interspersed with some drier interludes. Temperatures are expected to be close to or slightly above average for the time of year for most and while there may be some mild overnight periods, some cold nights with early-morning fog patches are possible under clearer conditions.

A mixture of spells of rain and showers, along with some more dry, settled periods, are likely until the middle of the month, the latter perhaps slightly favoured. However, there could be a trend towards more frequent unsettled conditions as the month continues, which could lead to southern areas being wetter than average for the time of year. Northern areas may see slightly less rainfall than usual though. It is expected that temperatures will generally be above average for October, but, during clearer spells in particular, some nights may feel chilly.
