Today:

Dry, with warm sunny spells for much of the day. Increasingly cloudy and breezy from late afternoon with showers or longer spells of rain, locally thundery, spreading east through the evening. Chance of torrential downpours, hail and lightning. Maximum temperature 25 °C.

Tonight:

Showers or longer spells of rain, locally heavy and perhaps thundery, will gradually clear eastwards overnight. Dry conditions with clear spells will follow for most, with winds becoming light. Minimum temperature 11 °C.

Thursday:

Any isolated showers at daybreak soon dying out, then a fine and dry day on Thursday, with warm sunny spells and generally light winds. Maximum temperature 24 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Bright start Friday, perhaps thundery showers, with a further band of rain or showers later. Saturday and Sunday, mostly dry with sunny spells. Breezier Saturday. Temperatures nearer normal.

UK long range weather forecast

On Sunday and into the start of next week, southern parts of the UK likely staying mostly fine and dry with light winds. Still a chance of showers, and a low risk that some of these will be heavy at times. Further north it is likely to be cloudier and breezier, particularly around coasts, with showers that could merge into some longer spells of rain. Temperatures close to average, but perhaps below average in the northwest, though it will still feel warm in the sunshine. Towards the end of next week, rain or showers are possible, most likely in the northeast by this stage, where it will be breezy. Drier further southwest with lighter winds. Most areas becoming mainly dry through the end of May.

Into June, temperatures are likely to be above average across the south but closer to average further north. Toward mid-June it may turn less settled across the north of the UK, bringing rain or showers, while the south may remain largely fine.
